Gordon Setters are predisposed to cerebellar cortical degeneration, a progressive neurological condition causing loss of coordination and balance. As the condition advances, affected dogs become less able to exercise normally. Without adjustment to food intake, reduced activity leads to weight gain that adds further physical strain on a dog already managing a movement disorder.
